Levels of Support

  • The Teaching Practice Guide lists your state standards along with the components that have been aligned to the standard.
  • When you select a component, you are presented with the top 25 Teaching Practices in rank order along with the impact and a link to the Course Description, if one is available.
  • Selecting a Teaching Practice will display:
    • The description of the strategy
    • What it will enable the student to do
    • The role of the teacher
    • The connections to the brain research and multiple intelligences
    • The connections to the type of brain processing required for the student to learn
  • Clicking the View Bibliography button will display the full bibliography for the strategy and its alignment.
  • In addition to the Teaching Practice, a Parent Activity is also available.
  • The vocabulary of the standard is linked to the component as well.
  • The Synthesis System allows administrators and teachers to identify the instructional interventions for the tested standards for a score on state or district tests.
  • The Synthesis Report shows the number of components the strategy appeared in the top 5 ranked slots. This ensures that the impact on learning is usually Superior (ES = 1.3 or better).
  • If a course is available, it will be indicated next to the Strategy. The course description can be viewed by clicking the "View" link. It is also possible to enroll in the course from here.
  • When the Synthesis Report is printed it will include the same information, however, if a course is available the strategy will be bold and the word "Yes" appears.
  • The Content Pedagogy Inventory allows you to pick the strategies you would like to be assessed on.
  • The assessments are based on the critical attributes of the strategy. They are scored immediately and an individual teacher report is made available to the teacher. There are 3 - 4 scenarios for each strategy with a total of 10 decisions.
  • Professional Knowledge consists of the accepted Professional Teaching Standards, as well as the ability to meet the needs of diverse learners such as:
    • Students from diverse cultures
    • students who live in poverty
    • English Language Learners
  • The assessments are based on the critical attributes of the strategy. They are scored immediately and an individual teacher report is made available to the teacher. There are 3 - 4 scenarios for each strategy with a total of 10 decisions.
  • There are four reports available for administrators to guide decisions on professional development:
    • Progress Reports for monitoring teacher progress during course work
    • Composite Content Pedagogy Inventory Report
    • Composite Professional Knowledge Inventory Report
    • Organization Summary Report
  • The School Progress Report provides a record of proficiency and a means to monitor learning while in progress for teacher leaders and principals who support teacher learning.
  • When focusing professional development on student performance goals, principals can know the level of proficiency of the teaching staff to make decisions on where to focus their funds.
  • When building capacity of teachers on the foundations of teaching, as well as the ability to meet the needs of diverse learners in the school, administrators can know the level of proficiency of the teaching staff to drive decisions.
  • Administrators can monitor the use of the online professional development with the Organization Summary Report.
  • Teachers can choose to engage parents in support of classroom instruction with powerful parent activities aligned to standards.
  • Selecting a standard will display a parent activity for that standard.
  • Choosing multiple standards that are the focus of instruction will yield a printable report for parents. The report can be customized with the name of the teacher or student. In addition, the report can be printed in English or Spanish.
